School Director, Carl Schurz School
The School Director is responsible for the operation of the Carl Schurz School (CSS) of the Community Support Association (CSA). CSS provides preschool and childcare for children between the ages of six weeks and five years, serving the US Consulate General, Frankfurt community. The goal of the school is to provide a healthy, nurturing, learning environment for the children which it serves and their families. It is also the goal of the School Director to manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the school, oversee and make sure the school is financially stable, maintain and improve the appearance of the school facilities and provide excellent service to the children and parents. The School Director reports directly to the General Manager.

Key duties include:
- Ensuring that CSS is providing an effective, safe and appropriate educational program for children
- Providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for our children and teachers
- Developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with and among parents and staff
- Managing the school’s operating budget to ensure adequate funding for all programs
- Maintaining student records and documentation as necessary
- Responsible for all managing, hiring and dismissal of staff
- Evaluating staff performance and providing regular performance evaluations
- Scheduling staff to provide adequate coverage in all groups following the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children - https://www.naeyc.org/) teacher-student ratio; this includes working in the classroom when needed
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree required
- Degree preference is in a child or business-related field (i.e. early childhood development or education, nursing, recreation, administration, leadership)
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, Health and Human Services or related field preferred
- Minimum two years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Must be fluent in English
- Experience working with small children
- Proven leadership, organizational and management skill
- Clear written and oral communication skills, ability to maintain high level of accuracy in duties, able to work independently and has excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to pass a security investigation
