School Director, Carl Schurz School

The Community Support Association is seeking a dynamic School Director to support the overall operation of the Carl Schurz School, an American-style preschool. 

Key duties include:
  • Ensuring that the Carl Schurz School is providing an effective and appropriate educational program for students
  • Providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for our students and teachers
  • Developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with and among parents and staff
  • Managing the school’s operating budget to ensure adequate funding is available for all programs provided
  • Maintaining student records and documentation as necessary
  • Responsible for all hiring and dismissal of staff plus personnel policies
  • Evaluating staff performance and providing regular performance evaluations
  • Scheduling staff to provide adequate coverage in all classrooms following the NAYEC teacher-student ratio 

Qualifications:
  • Four-year college degree required
    • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Health and Human Services or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Experience working with small children
  • Proven leadership, organizational and management skill
  • Clear written and oral communication skills, ability to maintain high level of accuracy in duties, able to work independently and good interpersonal skills

Working hours:
We are closed on German and American holidays.  The position is part-time, averaging 30 hours per week.
