What are the Differences Between the Job Ticket and the D-Ticket?
In spring 2023, Germany introduced the 49€ monthly Deutschland Ticket, or D-Ticket. In 2025, the Deutschland Ticket will increase to 58€ monthly. The benefits vary between the RMV Job Ticket and the D-Ticket, including area of usage, ability to bring guests, how to receive customer support, and pricing. Please review the differences carefully before making your selection. A chart that describes the differences in English is available at www.csafrankfurt.com/job-tickets.
A summary of the differences is provided here:
1. The Job Ticket is valid in the RMV zone (see interactive map here); the D-Ticket is valid in all of Germany.
2. Both tickets are allowed for use on anything except for an Intercity Express (ICE) train or Intercity (IC) Train. Both tickets are valid on Regional trains, Regional Express Trains, Buses, U-Bahn’s, S-Bahn’s, etc.
3. Both tickets are valid for second class travel only.
4. The Job Ticket allows one adult and children fourteen years old and younger to accompany the ticket holder Monday through Friday after 7 pm and all days on Weekends and German holidays in the RMV zone. The D-Ticket does not allow anyone to travel with the ticket holder at any time.
5. Job Tickets can be purchased using PayPal or Uberweisung (bank transfer). The D-Ticket requires an IBAN for monthly account debiting.
6. The Job Ticket cannot be cancelled. The D-Ticket can be cancelled at the end of a month if it is cancelled by the tenth of the month.
7. Customer service for the Job Ticket is provided through the Consulate’s MAC Office ([email protected]). Customer service for the D-Ticket is handled directly with the ticket issuer.
* In November 2024, RMV transitioned from paper job tickets to plastic chip card job tickets. This change requires additional data requirements to include full name, birthdate, the city and the zip code of your actual residence (not the Consulate address). All job ticket applicants must fill out an online form available on the CSA website regardless of the payment method. By completing the form, you are consenting to releasing your personal information to the German Transportation System and the CSA.
